Our Work
CIVINET Ukraine is the national CIVITAS network that brings together municipalities, public authorities, research institutions, private companies, and civil society organisations working in the field of sustainable urban mobility and transport.
The network serves as a platform for cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, supporting Ukrainian cities in developing and implementing integrated, evidence-based, and resilient urban mobility policies aligned with European standards.
Today, CIVINET Ukraine focuses on several strategic areas:
Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP)
Supporting municipalities in preparing and implementing SUMPs in accordance with the latest European guidelines and best practices.
Legislative and Policy Development
Contributing to the development of Ukraine's SUMP framework and drafting legislative amendments to integrate SUMP principles into national law.
TEN-T and EU Integration
Assisting cities in aligning their transport and mobility planning with the requirements of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and Ukraine's European integration commitments.
Capacity Building
Organising trainings, workshops, peer-learning activities, and expert exchanges for local governments and mobility stakeholders.
Knowledge Transfer and Innovation
Promoting innovative mobility solutions, digital tools, data-driven planning, and pilot projects that can be replicated across Ukrainian cities.
International Cooperation
Facilitating cooperation between Ukrainian municipalities and European cities, networks, and institutions.
A key annual event of the network is the Ukrainian Urban Mobility Forum, which gathers representatives of cities, ministries, international organisations, experts, and businesses to discuss mobility reforms, public transport development, accessibility, road safety, climate resilience, and the future of sustainable urban mobility in Ukraine.
Through its activities, CIVINET Ukraine acts as a bridge between Ukrainian municipalities and the European urban mobility community, helping cities access expertise, partnerships, and funding opportunities while advancing the country's transition toward a modern, integrated, and sustainable transport system.
